• Computational solution of Einstein equations (field equations of General Relativity), focusing on:
  • Black hole formation
  • Black hole dynamics, black hole collisions
  • Gravitational wave generation
  • Relativistic hydrodynamics, scalar/vector/non-Abelian field dynamics
  
  
• Research techniques/methodology:
  • Finite-difference and spectral methods for solution of nonlinear systems of partial differential equations
  • High performance computing (HPC), including parallel processing on distributed memory clusters
  • Scientific visualization, including development of custom analysis and graphics packages
  • Special purposes languages (compiler design/implementation) for numerical relativity and related fields
  
  
• Computational Resources:
  • All graduate students have their own high-end PC-workstation
  • Group has access to Compute Canada supercomputing facilities
